Plans & limits

Every plan gets the same live core: unlimited viewers, unlimited pages, real-time WebSockets from Cloudflare's edge, full theming with the 200k+ icon library, analytics, and optional EU hosting. The only metered thing is reactions. Pricing has the sell; this page is the reference.

What each plan unlocks

Free carries a small Tapback logomark on the bar, linking back to us — that mark plus the paid plans is how the free tier pays for itself. Reactions come from the built-in marks, full-color emoji, or the icon library.

Plus adds your own uploaded artwork (SVG, PNG, GIF or WebP) as reaction icons, ambient mode (your own buttons, no bar), live presence (a live count of how many readers are here now), per-post reaction sets (a palette of extra reactions each page can pick from, with an on-page picker for authors), and removes the logomark — or replaces it with your own.

Pro adds signed attestations (counts anyone can verify against our published key), attention alerts (an email when one of your pages takes off), and higher per-reader rate limits.

What happens at a cap

Your page never breaks. Over the daily cap, a tap still animates locally in the tapper's own browser — the shared counter just stops moving until the day rolls over. Live viewing keeps working throughout, because watching is unmetered. The free plan's monthly ceiling works the same way: 200,000 is eight full-cap viral days, so one big moment stays free, and a site doing that volume every day is a paid workload.

Per-reader rate limits

Separate from your plan caps, every page enforces per-reader limits — these are what make the counts worth publishing:

A limited reader's taps animate locally and stop counting, the same as a capped Tapbar. Privacy covers how this works without CAPTCHAs or reader identity.

If a plan lapses

Nothing breaks and nothing needs reconfiguring. A Tapbar using ambient mode serves the floating bar (with the logomark) until the plan is restored, config intact. Attestations issued while a Tapbar was on Pro stay verifiable forever — the key set is public and verification never calls us.

Upgrading

Billing is opening shortly; start on the free plan — upgrading is one click in the console and nothing migrates. Running something bigger — events, platforms, custom needs? Say hello.
